Out first meeting this winter is Sunday, January 22nd from 11:30-12:30
at First Parish Sudbury
WHO – any 4th-8th grader who is interested in learning some new kinds of dancing and having fun with an inclusive group!
WHAT – We are a group who focuses on traditional Morris Dancing. Morris dancing comes from the Cotswold region of England and is a springtime ritual dance done in the small agricultural villages. The bells, sticks, and colorful costumes combine with the vigorous dancing to wake the earth and drive away the evil spirits of winter and guarantee a good crop that summer. These dances are hundreds of years old and were passed down through the generations to us today.
We also learn some Rapper Sword Dancing, which is a fast paced dance done with flexible metal swords and comes from the coal mining communities of Northern England.
Hop Brook performs as able at various events and venues throughout the year.
WHEN AND WHERE – Our first meeting of the new season will be Sunday January 22nd at the First Parish in Sudbury, Ma. We will regularly meet on Sundays at this time. Snacks provided!
COST- $50 dues for the season.
Please get in touch with any questions you have if you are interested!
